The new Android KitKat enables users to perform actions such as creating, editing, and writing and saving a document as well as deleting the same. However, unlike in the previous versions, there is no direct interaction between the document providers and their clients. Rather, in this case the clients first seek permission for performing specific actions such as creating, reading or editing the files and the system picker transfers this request to each registered provider until it finds matching content which is then displayed to the user. The clients then chose a document and are granted app permission by the system to access only that specific URI.
